Our latest designs take their cue from the natural world - specifically, the shell. Crest is a series of three new lighting pieces that continue our ongoing exploration of the shapes, forms and textures found in nature, translated into the materials we love to work with.
Inspired by the organic form of the shell, Crest comprises a wall light, a ceiling pendant and a semi-flush mount ceiling light. Each is built around a shade hand-carved from a single piece of alabaster - a material chosen for its luminous depth and individual character. Its soft veining, warmth of tone and distinctive way of diffusing light mean no two shades ever turn out identically.
The wall light establishes the design language of the series, pairing its scalloped alabaster form with a reflective brass backplate and finely sculpted brass clasps, crafted using the ancient lost-wax casting technique practised at our East Sussex foundry.
The pendant and semi-flush mount carry these details forward, each suspended from a solid brass rod with reeded detailing and finished with a brass finial at the centre of the shade. Together, the three designs create a cohesive family - balancing sculptural elegance with timeless craftsmanship.
As with all Collier Webb pieces, each Crest design is handmade to order at our East Sussex foundry and workshops, passing through the hands of skilled makers across multiple detailed processes.

The Crest Wall Light gives the series its starting note. A shade hand-carved from a single piece of alabaster is set against a reflective backplate that gathers and returns the light, held in place by brass clasps sculpted and cast using the ancient lost-wax technique. The effect is architectural and organic - coastal influence meets interior elegance, lit softly from within.
The Crest Semi-Flush Mount is the most subtle of the three designs, carrying the same scalloped alabaster shade on a shortened version of the pendant's fixture - a brass rod with reeded detailing rising to a semi-domed ceiling rose, with a cast brass finial at the centre of the shade. Sitting close to the ceiling, it casts a soft, diffused glow, and its discretion makes it the most versatile of the series.
