From October 14–30, design lovers in New York were invited to follow a curated trail of showrooms showcasing the very best of British craftsmanship. The Dovetail programme, which began at the New York Design Center and continued throughout the city, brought together a remarkable group of makers and brands united by a shared commitment to design excellence and traditional skill.
Curated by author and co-founder Helen Chislett, Dovetail shines a light on Britain’s craft heritage, featuring work from the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) and alumni of The King’s Foundation. It’s a celebration of the imagination, precision and passion that continue to define British making today – qualities that are deeply meaningful to us at Collier Webb.
For Dovetail, we were proud to host London-based makers Object Studio in our New York showroom, featuring their Bhadra Cocktail Table and S Chair.
Object Studio are a design, craft, and manufacturing team based entirely in London. Their work beautifully showcases traditional craftsmanship with innovative manufacturing processes. Each piece is a testament to their belief in continual learning, collaboration, and the wider craft community. Their approach to making - thoughtful, experimental, and rooted in skill, mirrors our own values. Seeing their work in our space felt like a true meeting of minds; a shared belief that design is as much about process as it is about the final form.
“Dovetail is about connection – between the makers, materials and craft – which is something that sits at the heart of Collier Webb. We’ve always believed that craftsmanship should be shared and celebrated, and this initiative gives us the chance to do that in New York, a city that’s been so supportive of our work.
Hosting Object Studio in our showroom felt like a natural fit. Their Bhadra Cocktail Table and S Chair beautifully reflect the innovation and care that define British craft today. As makers ourselves, we understand the value of that process – the hours, the experimentation, the pursuit of perfection – and we’re proud to help bring that story to the forefront.”
– Danielle Collier, Managing Director, Collier Webb
Being part of Dovetail means more to us than simply showcasing work — it’s about connection. Between British makers and the international design community. Between traditional techniques and new ideas. Between the people who make and those who appreciate the craft.
At Collier Webb, every piece we make in our Sussex foundry and workshop is the result of collaboration, care and countless hours of skill. Taking part in Dovetail allowed us to share that story alongside others who feel the same way — and to do so in a city that continues to embrace and celebrate British design.
We’re deeply grateful to the Dovetail team, and to everyone who visited and supported this special initiative.
