We are delighted to have been involved in the latest project by de Gournay, honouring the craft of hand-painted Chinese wallpapers and the preservation of Belvoir Castle, whilst celebrating a collaboration of traditional British brands throughout the space.
The Howard Room, previously known as the Brown Room, was exquisitely reimagined by Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler with our Antique Brass Picture Rail system included along the feature wall to enhance the room’s elegance and grandeur.

Belvoir Castle embodies a rich and unique history, being one of the few castles in England that have remained in one family throughout its existence. A project of this special nature within such a renowned space required the input and collaboration of expert makers, each an authority and foremost innovator in their field.
At the core of the Belvoir Castle project was the transformation of the newly christened Howard Room. Its previous design boasted a chocolate and citrine scheme dating back to the 1960s.

We were approached by de Gournay and Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler, to participate in this collaboration of authentic British craft. The vision was to preserve the three original paintings found in the then-Brown Room and re-hang them from the Picture Rail scaling the length of the far left wall.
Our specialist designers got to work on the requirements by executing initial drawings and specifications of the rail. Once finalised with the design team, the project then began its journey through our Workshop.

Our brass Picture Rail Systems are handcrafted to ensure they complement and enhance artwork perfectly, whilst fitting the space seamlessly. Our made-to-order designs have been featured in galleries, public spaces and private residences across the globe, with our wide range of standard and custom hardware alongside our array of finishes making it the ideal option to suit any decor.
Our team of experts are on hand to advise on every step of the hanging process, from selecting the correct components to installation. Their knowledge and experience will be able to help you with considerations such as wall fixing, chain loading, optional lighting and aesthetics.
