In 2018 we worked with the award-winning firm, West Architecture to create bespoke stair balustrades.

West Architecture’s project, the refurbishment and extension of a Victorian house in Islington, London included an outstanding stone staircase which would be the focal point of the entire design.

West Architecture worked with Webb Yates Engineers and The Stonemasonry Company to design the staircase structure made from Mirabell, a Portuguese limestone. It was fabricated in three large sections to form a stunning half arch spanning the lower and upper ground floor.

Collier Webb were tasked with creating the one-of-a-kind balustrades and handrail which were designed to perfectly reflect the organic aesthetic of the staircase.

Patinated mild steel was used to create the staircase balustrades and the sweeping handrail was crafted from brass and bronze patinated at our South Coast Foundry using a mix of the latest technology and human hand.
