When the opportunity arose to collaborate with the inimitable Alessandra Branca on her Casa Branca guest room at WOW!house 2025, we were delighted to help bring her vision of the ultimate boudoir to life.
Known for her love of classical beauty, influenced by her Italian heritage, Alessandra brings storytelling and soul into every interior she creates.
This year, we were proud to loan two of our Scallop Wall Lights in Antique Brass, which now elegantly frame the canopy bed, nestled into the softly upholstered, fabric-wrapped walls of her richly layered guest room. We caught up with Alessandra to explore the space, talk craftsmanship, and reflect on the kind of creative alchemy that happens when designer and maker come together.

Can you tell us about the concept behind your WOW!house room and the inspiration that brought it to life?
"My goal was to create the ULTIMATE guest room! I have ALWAYS believed that it is easier to give than to receive and a guest room is a wonderful place to indulge the ones we love. I designed the room around my newly designed Casablanca Srinagar paisley print and stripe in tones of blush pink and toast on an unbleached Belgian linen. The overall room inspired by Renzo Mongiardino’s iconic rooms for Lee Radziwill and the Brandolini d”Adda. The walls are covered in this fabric where I created a sense of architecture by paneling out the walls and frame the doorways … the central element of this room has a David Hicks inspired canopy bed with a playful shaped headboard with the wonderful brass shell shaped lights from Collier Webb… the whole inside of the bed is meant to feel like the inside of a nautilus shell… Furnishing the room was great fun... I love books as much as enjoy “the mix” of old and new… here we used a Bronze bookcase by Mattia Bonetti filled with some of my favorite books new and old as well as a lovely collection of accessories , again new and old, from Abask. The art selection in the room also is all about new and old… with the 18th century whippet painting from Jamb and the contemporary works by Pierre Bergian from Purdy Hicks Gallery.A wonderful late 17th-century Italian commode from Rose Uniacke brings my personal history into the room as well as offers great storage and presence against the softness of the walls."
How would you describe your design philosophy, and what do you feel your studio is best known for?
"I believe in studying history but keeping a toe in the future … I love classical architecture but feel very strongly that we need to support contemporary works and craftsmen…"
What appealed to you about using our Scallop Wall Lights?
"I love the usefulness made sculptural… they are beautifully crafted and remind me of little pieces of jewelry or sculpture for the room … all this and being a wonderful way to allow someone to read their favorite book in bed.. what could be BETTER???"
Each Scallop Wall Light in your space was individually cast in our Sussex foundry. How important is that level of craftsmanship and authenticity when selecting pieces for your projects?
"It is and has always been VERY important … I believe in quality and feel it is very important to invest in it as often as we can... These fixtures are not only beautiful and wonderfully made but artful. I look forward to using them for bookcases on a project soon!!"
From your point of view, what makes a truly successful partnership between a designer and a maker?
"Deep rooted mutual respect is the basis of ALL successful partnerships … It is important to know what it takes to accomplish our goals and then help each other get there …. My work cannot exist without the great quality products and materials that we find in vendors such as Collier Webb…"
