With the kind permission of the Earl of March, Collier Webb are pleased to announce the latest addition to our lighting collection, the Goodwood Lantern. This impressive Regency designed lantern has been recreated from the original that has hung in Goodwood House, Sussex since the 1820’s.
It is one of the finest examples from the period, featuring acanthus leaf, honeysuckle, floral and scroll motifs, ribbed pilasters and a hand-blown glass smoke shade. Our craftsmen have carefully made new moulds and patterns to faithfully capture the elegant proportions and ornate details of the original.
Recreating the lantern required 18 moulds to be produced, one for each of the various components. These moulds were then used for the manufacture of over 100 individual castings that were needed before assembly could begin. The display model in our Pimlico Road showroom is finished in Antique Gilt Lacquer and is supplied complete with a matching decorative chain and ceiling rose.
From July 2017, we warmly invite our new and existing clients to come and view the Goodwood Lantern and our extensive collection at our Pimlico Road showroom.
